ANAUT presents “El Barco” featuring Anni B Sweet
ANAUT and Anni B Sweet join voices on “El Barco”, a song addressing the human reality of migration and those who take to the sea in the hope of finding a better life.
The song was conceived during a trip by Alberto Anaut to Vietnam, inspired by the reality of people undertaking dangerous sea crossings — sometimes without even knowing how to swim — leaving their homes behind in search of a future and the possibility of helping those who remain.
El Barco transforms this reality into an intimate and restrained story. An empty boat drifting without a captain or a flag becomes a symbol of the lives and stories left suspended at sea. Anni B Sweet’s voice alongside ANAUT heightens the emotional impact of a recording deliberately stripped of artifice, evoking the intimacy of a mother telling a story to her child.
Released as the fourth single from Perro Verde, ANAUT’s fourth album and their first recorded entirely in Spanish, El Barco belongs to a new chapter in which the Madrid-based band expands its soul and Americana roots into new rock and pop territory.
The song also carries a charitable dimension: all online proceeds were donated to the NGO Open Arms, supporting its work protecting and rescuing people at sea.
